English Language Day, April 23rd

Why is English language Day celebrated? We are all proud of our mother tongue, yet no one can deny that English is a world language. It is widely spoken, and is the common language by which people of different nationalities can communicate with one another. World English Language Day is celebrated on 23rd April every year. The date was chosen because it is the birthday of William Shakespeare, one of the greatest English poets and dramatists of all time. English Language Day aims to entertain and inform people about the history , culture, and achievements associated with the language. The day often features book- reading events ,and other activities that promote the English language.
