Read these Books ...Recommendations by Ann Maria George, XI C

It is really important to start with great books to develop your habit of reading. So here are some of my recommendations of books for you to start reading.

1) FLAWED – CECELIA AHERN

‘To be true to myself, I will be deemed Flawed’
This book really shows you the value of being honest. It is about a sixteen year old girl named Celestine who had to confront something that she never thought she will face in her entire life. She encounters a situation where she has to lie to save her life or be honest and be herself. Flawed will really help you to be ingenuous even at times of danger; it will help you to give voice to those who are silenced. This book also reminds you that none of us are perfect.

2) THE FAULT IN OUR STARS – JOHN GREEN
‘Some infinities are bigger than other infinities’
Some may say that they don’t like this book. But I think that this book shows the reality of life. The fault in our stars is not just a heartbreaking love story of a sixteen year old girl Hazel and an eighteen year old Augustus. This book will really teach you some of the life’s most important lessons. It will make you realize that it is never too late to care for someone, to be in love with someone. After reading the book, if you are upset with the ending then remember, pain demands to be felt (quote from the book).

3) DIVERGENT – VERONICA ROTH
‘Fear doesn’t shut you down, it wakes you up’
When your society is divided into five factions and if you don’t specifically belong to any of them, what will you do? Divergent is the story of a young girl named Tris Prior who decides to take a stand that could cost her everything.Tris is a divergent and to the society, she is dangerous. To live, she must not trust anyone. But her life completely changes after meeting Tobias Eaton. Is Tobias a friend who can protect her or an enemy who is a threat? Read the book to find out.

4) LITTLE WOMEN – LOUISA MAY ALCOTT
‘I am not afraid of storms for I am learning how to sail my ship’
I read this book when I was young. But this book is still in my reread list. Little women is just a simple story about the four March sisters-Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy. The four sisters are different in their own ways, but they make a great team .The story shows you the value of family, friendship and love. It will help you to cherish each and every moment that you have with your family and friends. This book is really heartwarming and has no age barrier.

5) P.S I LOVE YOU – CECELIA AHERN
‘Nobody’s life is filled with perfect little moments, and if they were, they wouldn’t be perfect little moments’
Are you ready to get a little teary eyed? Then this book is perfect for you. P.S I Love you is definitely one of Cecelia Ahern’s most beautiful books. This book is about a thirty year old woman named Holly who got completely lost of herself after her husband Gerry’s death. With the help of her family and friends she becomes braver than she have ever been. This book will help you to realize that life is for living and that you don’t have to mourn over your dear one’s leaving. Because they wouldn’t want you to live your life sorrowfully.
